University Libraries Welcomes New Director at Cushing Library

The University Libraries welcomed Dr. Francesca Marini as associate dean of special collections and director of the Cushing Memorial Library and Archives on Aug. 4, 2014. An archivist with international experience, Marini most recently served as archives director at the Stratford Festival in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. During her tenure, she re-organized and fully revamped the Archives, one of the largest and most complete performing arts archives in the world.
Marini has also served on the faculty of the School of Library, Archival and Information Studies, University of British Columbia, Vancouver. She has been in the archival, special collections and library field for twenty years, first as a student and then as an academic and a practitioner. Her research interests focus on performing arts and film archiving. She presents widely at national and international conferences and publishes in archival and performing arts journals.
