Get Additional Access to Materials with BorrowItNow

Marketing and Communications | August 22, 2013

Texas A&M University Libraries has long been known for its exceptional service in providing materials to users even when not available on campus through Get it for Me. This popular search feature is the cornerstone of the Libraries’ award-winning borrowing and lending service. Beginning Aug. 26, 2013, the Libraries will offer the ability to find resources with an additional service, BorrowItNow.

BorrowItNow is available to Texas A&M through the Libraries’ affiliation with the Greater Western Library Alliance (GWLA). GWLA is a consortium of 33 research libraries located in the central and western United States.

This new option allows faculty, staff and students to search for and request print books directly from other GWLA member libraries. If the requested material is available in the member libraries, the user will receive it more quickly. If the material is not available through BorrowItNow, users can still make requests through Get it for Me. Users can access either search service by creating a Get it for Me account at

“We are very excited about BorrowItNow as a tool that augments search strategies for our users. When you need books that are unavailable from Texas A&M or not owned by the Library, search BorrowItNow. Requested books should arrive within one week, faster than with recalls or traditional interlibrary loan,” explained Lan Yang, Interim Associate Dean for Information Resources.
