Marketing and Communications | March 31, 2012
ProQuest Day is coming to the Texas A&M University Libraries April 10, 2012. This first-time event will feature demos and presentations about available databases from ProQuest, one of the world’s largest vendors of electronic databases to libraries and other educational institutions. Demos will be 9 a.m.–noon, at Sterling C. Evans Library in Room 204E and 1–3 p.m. at West Campus Library front lobby.
Faculty, staff, researchers, and students are invited to attend. ProQuest will provide refreshments and promotional items. Participants can sign up for a drawing and a chance to win a 32G Apple® iPad.
“Because our students and faculty rely heavily on ProQuest databases, we’re very pleased that their staff will provide demos of their latest products,” LaVerne Gray, learning and outreach librarian and coordinator of the event, said. “And representatives for RefWorks and GIS resources, materials which are very popular with our users, will also demo their products.”
In February 2010, the Libraries tripled its ProQuest content through a brokered 5-year agreement to acquire new content across all disciplines at the same cost. ProQuest is co-sponsoring the event along with the Libraries’ departments of Learning & Outreach and Collection Development & Acquisitions Services.
