The Texas A&M University Libraries got a boost at the start of the 2011 fall semester, thanks to a gift of $18,500 from Head Coach Mike Sherman’s Kick-Off Camp. In its 19th year, the event drew a record crowd of 125 participants during the Aug. 12-14 weekend.
Recipients of Kick-Off Camp gifts will be recognized during pre-game festivities at the Sept. 17 game against Idaho. Pixey Anne Mosley ’87, interim associate dean for Administrative and Faculty Services at the University Libraries, will accept the gift on behalf of the University Libraries. The Aggie Band and the Singing Cadets also share in the gift proceeds.
“We are proud of our longstanding partnership with Athletics and delighted that Coach Sherman provides this annual support to the University Libraries,” commented Charles Gilreath, interim dean of the University Libraries.
The popular pre-season event has provided support to the University Libraries and other campus units since its inception. Previous gifts to the University Libraries total $371,500. Funds have been used for resource materials, digitizing football films in the archives, and textbook scholarships for students.
