The Texas A&M University Libraries is offering students a unique opportunity to star in the READ poster campaign. Posters feature Texas A&M icons. Reveille, the Yell Leaders, the Women’s Basketball team, and President Bowen Loftin (below) have all posed for posters with their special books to share their enthusiasm for reading.

“We borrowed this idea from the American Library Association, which does celebrity posters each year. Since we have our own campus celebrities, we decided to start a Texas A&M poster series,” explained Robin Bedenbaugh, coordinator for Marketing and Communication at the Libraries.

Students can grab a favorite book (their copy or one from the Libraries), dress in themed costume (optional), and come to one of the selected libraries where a photographer will snap their photo to enter the Libraries’ READ photo contest:

  • Sterling C. Evans Library – Tuesday, April 5, 1-3 p.m.
  • West Campus Library – Wednesday, April 6, 3-5 p.m.
  • Evans Library – Thursday, April 7, 3-5 p.m.

Contest rules and photos will be posted online. Photos will be judged on the most number of votes received by Friday, April 15 at 4 p.m., CST. The winning photo will be featured on a Libraries’ READ poster, printed in mass quantities and available at all campus libraries. Follow us on Facebook for updates.
